It's here. Winter. In the form of about 2 inches of wet, slippery, yucky snow. I know it doesn't sound like much, but the snow around here is so wet that even a little bit can make driving hell. And of course, since our lovely provincial government decided to privatize road maintenance, ostensibly to save the taxpayer money (which I doubt) but more likely so that their rich road-maintenance company owning friends can get richer, the roads have not been well-maintained. My mom, who lives next door, arrived home at about 6 pm, and said that the one road that connects our little rural community to the town had not been plowed yet. This is approximately 7 hours after the snow started. You'd think they'd have had time to bust out the plows. Especially since snow was in the forecast. One would assume that people who are in the business of maintaining roads (or are supposed to be anyway) would listen to the odd weather forecast, and prepare accordingly.
Anyhoo, I didn't start this post with the intention of ranting. Just wanted to say "Snow ...yucky... here's some pictures." I think I've got the "yucky snow" part covered, so here's some pictures:
It also wreaks havoc on the plants. Here it is crushing my bamboo:

The cat must think she's a snow leopard or something, 'cause she wanted to go out in it:
