Its been an eventful (and tiring) few days. Brodie stepped on a piece of glass from a glass he had just knocked off my desk on Saturday night. It was a fairly big cut, and we debated the hospital (while he yelled "I don't want stitches" because he was severely traumatized by getting stitches in his leg 2 summers ago from a bike accident) but we decided against a trip to emerg. I was pretty sure the glass wasn't in there, and it was a clean cut. I had stitches in the bottom of my foot when I was a kid after stepping on glass, and it ranks right up there with childbirth as one of the least pleasant experiences of my life. I thought I should spare him that if I could. It seems to be healing well, so hopefully we made the right call. Then today I was about to drop Chloe off at her daycare and head to work when she puked ALL over herself in the car-seat. That was messy! So I turned around headed home. She kept throwing up every 30 minutes or so until about 2:30 this afternoon, then ate 2 kiwis, and seems to be fine. It is SO awful seeing your kids hurt or sick, isn't it? Its 10 times worse than being hurt or sick yourself. I have to admit that I didn't take Brodie to the hospital almost as much for myself as for him. I came very close to fainting when he was getting his leg stitched up, and I didn't care to go through that again. Funny because when I was a kid, whenever my brothers were bleeding, I had to deal with it because my mom would get woozy whenever she saw our blood. I always thought I was good at the blood thing. But its a whole different game when its your kid's blood! Another of the many joys of parenthood!
But then, you have moments like this...
and its all worth it!
